Assembly Term 2

I am so proud of Tui 5! They set up and ran an awesome assembly for the Tui syndicate this week. I wish I could've filmed the whole thing! Thank you to the ladies who MC'd the assembly, Christilee, Kalisi and Anna.
Big ups to our special rapping guests, Michael Tizzle, Phayeton Nizzle and Harlym Lizzle.
Above all thank you to the rest of the class who set the standard of professionalism and great behaviour during the singing, dancing and running of assembly. Well done you guys!

Lauren Child Collage

During term 2 we have been learning about authors. We have chosen six authors to do in depth study on and have really enjoyed learning about them, their background, why they decided to write books and which books they have written.
Our authors have been David Walliams, Ron Bacon, Craig Smith, Dr Seuss, Drew Daywalt and Lauren Child.
Lauren Child is extremely awesome because she is not only an author, but she illustrates her own stories as well. She uses a cool way of illustrating which is called collage. When we use collage we pick backgrounds and glue our pictures on top of them.
Here is Tui 5's rendition of collage. The kids have included themselves doing everyday activities. ENJOY!

Samoan Language Week!

Happy Samoan Language Week!
It has been a great week celebrating all things Samoa this week. The kids looked amazing dressed in their best culture clothes.

We have been reading the Samoan legend called Sina and the Eel. You can watch it here if you like.

We decided to retell the story, here is our version.

In maths, we also used Samoan patterns to make our own siapo (tapa). We used symmetry and folding and cutting paper to make our own siapo. We hope you enjoy.

BFG Day

In Tui 5 we love to read! We especially love shared reading and being read to. So we decided to join Chapter Chat and have been doing it for almost 2 years. We pick a novel and Mrs Martin reads us chapters every day. At the end of the week we do activities about what we read and it is so much fun. Term 1 we decided to read Roald Dahl's 'THE BFG'.
This was a great story about little orphan Sophie and The BFG (big friendly giant) and their adventure together (stopping the bad giants from eating people and meeting the Queen of England).

On the last day of term, Tui 4 and Tui 5 had a BFG day. We rotated around different stations and did really cool activities. They were:
1. Make your own evil Giant. (The BFG lived with evil giants who eat people!)
2. Make fobscottle (The BFG's favourite drink)
3. Make BFG ears (The BFG had huge ears so he could hear everything)
4. Make dreams (The BFG caught dreams and gave them to children around the world
5. Create Buckingham Palace using lego (That is where the Queen of England Lives)
